The focus of CEM’s Environmental Planning services is to help public agencies and private entities proactively minimize impacts to environmentally sensitive areas associated with their projects.
InterCounty Connector NEPA and Design Build Services
The Inter-County Connector is a state-of-the-art, 18-mile multi-modal highway crossing the suburbs of Maryland north of Washington, DC. This project has been designated as a national priority project monitored by the Federal Task Force, and protecting the diverse and sensitive natural environment traversed by the project is a top priority. CEM’s role in this massive effort to protect natural resources has been significant, including serving as a Third Tier Team Leader responsible for Hazardous Materials Investigations of 1,900 properties, conducting comprehensive Rosgen assessments of 26,000 linear feet of stream, performing functional assessments of 16 acres of wetlands, developing Avoidance Plans and Environmental Awareness Sensitivity Training programs, and identifying Rare, Threatened and Endangered species along the project corridor.
